Minutes of the regular meeting held on Thursday January 19, 2006 of the Brant Town Board at 7:00 PM, at the Brant Town Hall, at 1294 Brant-North Collins Rd, Brant, New York.

Also present were:
Joseph Gardyjan, Planning Board Chair.
The notice for this meeting which was announced at the regular meeting of the Brant Town Board on January 10, 2006, was posted Tuesday January 17, 2006 at the Brant Post Office and the Brant Town Hall.
The meeting was opened at 7:07 PM with a pledge to the flag led by Supervisor Pero, and the meeting called to order.
Supervisor Pero announced that the motion on Jan. 12 to advertise for a part time Police Chief at $15,000.00 to $20,000.00, to apply to Supervisor Pero pending approval of the Town Attorney and approved by Civil Service, and to advertise in the Penny Saver, Town Crier and the Hamburg Sun has not been published yet and but will be soon.
Supervisor Pero reported to the Board members that a certified/return receipt letter was sent January 18th, 2006 to Fred Ball Jr. concerning his refusal to accept the position of Code Officer as established by the Town Board at their January 10th meeting. In the letter he was directed to return all items in his procession of the Town’s to the Town Clerk.

ADPOTED TO RESCIND THE APPOINTMENT OF FRED BALL JR. AS BRANT CODE OFFICER WHICH WAS MADE ON JANUARY 10, 2006

ADOPTED: RESOLVED TO APPOINT GARY BRECKER BRANT CODE ENFORCEMENT/BUILDING INSPECTOR FOR A SIX MONTH PROBATIONARY TERM UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF SUPERVISOR PERO WITH WEEKLY REPORTS AND AN ANNUAL SALARY/CAP AT $6,500.00 PER BOARD FREEZE.
The Board had some discussion concerning Civil Service requirements and the need for a appropriate application from Gary Brecker. Supervisor Pero will be in touch with Mr. Bartow the Erie County (for municipalities and schools) representative for Civil Service.
Supervisor Pero reported that he and Councilman Arrigo met with the Police Chief and Patrolman and discussed the Police Department. Supervisor Pero reported that Chief Falk agreed to stay on for another month and the patrolman.
